Jagdamba Prasad Pandey – A fatal accident at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) early Monday claimed one life and left another injured when a stack of empty shipping containers collapsed onto a waste oil tanker, officials confirmed.

The incident occurred during operational hours at the Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal (NSFT) on July 6. One worker was pronounced dead at the scene, while another sustained injuries and was treated at the JNPA Hospital before being discharged.

In an official statement, the JNPA management expressed deep regret over the incident, extended heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family, and pledged all necessary support to those affected.

A detailed investigation and a comprehensive root cause analysis have been launched. Port officials confirmed that all terminals are strictly enforcing established safety protocols, with zero deviations from standard operating procedures tolerated as operations continue under heightened safety surveillance.
