Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) has welcomed the gifting of the Fast Patrol Vessel PS LESPWAR to the Seychelles Coast Guard, on 28th June, by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, during his State Visit to Seychelles.
Built by Goa Shipyard Limited and classed by IRS, the vessel will strengthen Seychelles’ capabilities in the areas of maritime surveillance, EEZ patrol, search and rescue, and coastal security, while demonstrating India’s continued commitment to maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region.
Commenting on the occasion, Cdr KK Dhawan, Head Defence at IRS, said: “The gifting of an IRS-classed fast patrol vessel to Seychelles reflects the growing confidence in India’s indigenous shipbuilding and classification capabilities.
