The Indo-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IBLCCI) inaugurated its South India Chapter in Chennai on 15 September, marking an important step in expanding the Chamber’s engagement across the region.
The Chapter was inaugurated in the presence of Ms. Nina Pineau, Consul & Deputy Head of Mission, Consulate General of Belgium in Mumbai, who was the Guest of Honour. The new Chapter aims to provide a regional platform for businesses and institutions to explore opportunities in trade, investment, technology and broader business collaboration between India, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
The launch was hosted at the Southern India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI) and brought together representatives of both chambers and members of the business community. IBLCCI was represented by Dr. Sharmila Amin, Vice President – Finance & Administration, and Ms. Priyanka Mishra, Committee Member.
Mr. Georges Baekelmans has been appointed as the Convenor, South India Chapter, with Mr. Naveen Prakash as Co-Convenor. They will spearhead the Chapter’s activities and work towards developing sustained engagement with businesses, industry bodies, and institutions across South India.
Representing SICCI were Mr. Mohammed Afzal, Member, SICCI Executive Committee; Mr. George Koshi, Chair, SICCI Employability Committee; and Mr. Vasanth Jeyapaul, Chair, SICCI Fintech Committee, along with other distinguished guests and members of the business community.
The programme included discussions on sectoral opportunities and potential areas of cooperation, reinforcing the shared objective of creating meaningful and sustainable business linkages between South India and the Belgian and Luxembourg business ecosystems.
With the establishment of the South India Chapter, IBLCCI seeks to deepen its regional outreach, facilitate greater business-to-business interaction, and create new avenues for trade, investment and strategic collaboration between companies and institutions in South India, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
The launch marks a new chapter in IBLCCI’s efforts to strengthen economic and commercial ties and build a broader, more connected platform for businesses across the three markets.
