The Maritime Games Golf Tournament, held at the prestigious US Club in Mumbai on March 31st, was a monumental success. The event was hailed as a ground-breaking initiative that fostered unity and healthy competition among industry professionals.
The brainchild of the Director General of Shipping, Mr Shyam Jagannathan, the Maritime Games aimed to bring together the maritime community, including logistics, ports, classification societies, agencies, and ship management companies.
The event, which brought together over 85 companies and 2000 participants from the maritime industry, featured 14 games, including cricket, rowing, and darts, was a huge success, with many participants praising the organizers for their meticulous planning and execution.
“The success of the Maritime Games has paved the way for future events, with plans to make it a bi-annual affair. The organizers are also exploring the possibility of hosting zonal events, which will bring together participants from different regions,” stated Mr Deependra Singh Bisen, Deputy Director General of Shipping.
In his vote of thanks, Captain Phadnis acknowledged the support of the Club Patron, and other dignitaries. He said, “As the maritime community comes together to celebrate this milestone, it’s clear that the Maritime Games have created a new tradition that will continue to foster camaraderie and healthy competition in the industry for years to come.”
