Capt Daniel Joseph, Dy. Director General is taking significant steps to enhance the travel experience of Indian seafarers. Recently, Capt Joseph met with the COO and officials of Adani Mumbai Airport at the T1 Terminal Corporate Office to discuss dedicated Seafarer Assistance Services. Key proposals discussed for a pilot rollout included:
- Dedicated helpdesk/assistance services for seafarers
- Separate baggage screening and immigration lane
- Access to exclusive lounge services on an optional basis
- Funding and operational modalities
Following up on the earlier meeting with COO and Adani officials at T1 on July 3, Capt Joseph held another meeting on July 4, with airport officials and ground staff of T2 Terminal, Mumbai Airport at DG Shipping. The discussions focused on pilot initiatives such as check-in assistance, immigration counter support, and lounge services to ensure smoother and more dignified travel for seafarers.
These collaborative efforts aim to provide a hassle-free airport transit experience for Indian seafarers, reflecting the Directorate’s commitment to their welfare.
