HIMT College, a leading institution in maritime education and training, proudly hosted three milestone Passing Out Ceremonies in June 2025, marking a significant transition for cadets into globally competent maritime professionals. The ceremonies honoured the achievements of:
- The 36th Batch of Electro Technical Officers (ETO) on June 19, 2025
- The graduating batches of B.Tech Marine Engineering and B.Sc Nautical Science on June 17, 2025
- The DNS Synergy Batch, sponsored by Synergy Marine Group, on June 10, 2025
Each ceremony was attended by distinguished industry dignitaries, who inspired cadets with their insights and acknowledged HIMT’s pivotal role in shaping the next generation of maritime professionals.
The 36th ETO Batch Passing Out Ceremony was held on June 19, 2025, with Mr. R.R. Subbarao, Engineer & Ship Surveyor cum Deputy Director General (Technical) at Mercantile Marine Department (MMD), Chennai, as the Chief Guest.
In his keynote address, Mr. Subbarao praised HIMT’s commitment to technical excellence and mentorship-driven culture, emphasizing the importance of values, leadership, and safety in the maritime industry.
A highlight of the event was his insightful seminar on the Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Act, 2017, which provided cadets with valuable legal knowledge. The ceremony featured a disciplined parade, oath-taking, and the distribution of awards to outstanding cadets.
The event was attended by HIMT’s leadership, including Dr. Sanjeev Vakil, CEO of HIMT Group; Capt. Anand Subramanian, Principal of HIMT College; and Mr. Kirtan S Vakil, Business Development Manager, adding to the ceremony’s prestige.
The B.Tech Marine Engineering and B.Sc Nautical Science Passing Out Parade was held on June 17, 2025, with Capt. Albe Zachariah, General Manager of MOL Maritime (India) Pvt. Ltd, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was also graced by Capt. Abhijit Banerjee, Senior Manager – Training, and Mr. Nilesh Shinde, Superintendent – Training.
The event celebrated the cadets’ transformation into qualified marine engineers and deck officers, with the dignitaries urging them to pursue their careers with resilience, purpose, and integrity.
Capt. Zachariah emphasized that discipline, good health, and responsibility are key to success at sea. Capt. Banerjee highlighted HIMT’s role as a launchpad for leadership, while Mr. Shinde praised the institution’s transformational training environment that shapes cadets into globally renowned leaders. The ceremony also showcased HIMT’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, earning accolades from the guests.
The DNS Synergy Batch Passing Out Ceremony was held on June 10, 2025, with Shri UVR Krishnan, Chief Business Solutions Officer & Director of Synergy Maritime Pvt Ltd, as the Chief Guest. Capt. Sudharsan S, Director of Training at Synergy Group, was the Guest of Honour.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the 73 DNS cadets who were fully sponsored by Synergy Marine Group, highlighting the success of industry-academia collaboration in maritime education. Shri Krishnan praised HIMT for producing professionals with strong technical skills, resilience, and leadership abilities.
Capt. Sudharsan commended the cadets’ remarkable growth, crediting HIMT’s structured training and mentorship for their transformation. He also appreciated HIMT’s commitment to gender inclusivity, aligning with the Maritime India Vision 2030.
The guests were impressed by HIMT’s newly commissioned Reefer Container Training Unit and sports arena, underscoring the institution’s emphasis on holistic development.
A Legacy of Excellence Shared Across all three ceremonies, the cadets exemplified outstanding discipline and professionalism, reflecting the core values of HIMT’s training philosophy. These events celebrated not only individual and collective achievements but also HIMT’s steadfast commitment to developing seafarers who are technically proficient, ethically grounded, and globally prepared.
