As part of ongoing efforts to support seafarers and optimize maritime operations, the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) hosted a collaborative meeting with officials from the British High Commission at the DSEO Mumbai office.
The discussions focused on key areas, including:
- Combating fraudulent documentation in maritime credentials
- Demonstrating the secure features of India’s BSID and Indian CDC
- Exploring a green channel system for hassle-free airport boarding for seafarers
- Proposing a dedicated Seafarers’ Assistance Counter at Mumbai Airport (pilot phase), with plans to expand to other Indian airports
This meeting underscores India’s commitment to a safe and transparent maritime ecosystem, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in ensuring seafarer welfare and ease of movement.
