The Bhartiya Navik Sena Union (BNSU) celebrated its Silver Jubilee on 6th June, marking 25 years of dedicated service to the Indian seafaring community. The grand event, held at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Mumbai, brought together maritime industry leaders, government officials, and seafarers from across the country.

The celebration began with a tribute to the Father of the Indian Navy, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, followed by a presentation highlighting the Union’s 25-year journey. The presentation shed light on BNSU’s pivotal role in advocating fair working conditions for seafarers, intervening in legal and welfare issues, creating awareness about seafarer rights, and collaborating with government and industry bodies to drive policy-level improvements.

The evening also featured the launch of BNSU’s new educational initiative, a school book distribution program for underprivileged children in rural Maharashtra. This initiative aims to improve access to quality educational materials for students who often lack basic learning resources.

The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including Capt Sanjay Srivastav and Capt Naren Bhatt, Suntech Shipping; Dr Sanjay Bhavnani, MMSI Shipping; Capt KS Paintal, Elite Marine; Capt Deepak Correa, Elegant Shipping; Capt Vineet Gupta, Anglo Eastern Shipping; Capt Anil Arora, Executive Shipping; and Mr Narayan Rane, Member of Parliament and former Union Minister for MSME. The guests were honoured with special mementos, symbolizing gratitude and respect for their continued support of the maritime fraternity.

The celebration concluded with a lavish dinner, where attendees shared stories, memories, and future aspirations for the Indian maritime sector. The event reaffirmed the strong sense of unity among India’s seafaring community and marked a major milestone for BNSU as it steps into its next chapter.

As the Bhartiya Navik Sena Union continues its mission to protect, support, and uplift Indian seafarers, its commitment to the welfare of the maritime community remains unwavering.
