The National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) has successfully negotiated a two-year upward revision of the NUSI Norwegian agreements. The revised agreements, effective from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026, include significant increases in wages and improvements in terms and conditions for all ratings and petty officers working on Norwegian flagships.

Key Highlights of the Revised Agreement:

  • 3.75% increase in basic wage for all ranks of seafarers, effective January 1, 2025
  • Additional 2% increase in basic wage for all ranks of seafarers, effective January 1, 2026
  • Increased death compensation to USD 111,000. Additional Compensation for child has been increased to USD 20400/- for each child under the age of eighteen. (max USD 61200/- not exceeding 3 children)
  • Enhanced disability compensation to USD 108,300
  • Increased tanker bonus for all ranks of seafarers
  • Improved provident fund, gratuity, and additional voluntary contribution benefits

The revised agreement also includes new provisions for equality, maternity benefits, and skill enhancement training. NUSI has expressed its gratitude to its members for their solidarity and support, which has empowered the union to achieve these significant milestones.
