The Maritime Association of Shipowners, Shipmanagers, and Agents (MASSA) proudly unveiled its new logo during the 25th anniversary celebration of the Massa Maritime Academy (MMA) last week in Mumbai. The refreshed logo embodies MASSA’s core values of education, inclusivity, trust, and reflects its pivotal role in nurturing young talent within the maritime industry.
Capt. S.M. Halbe, CEO of MASSA, welcomed attendees to the event, setting a warm and celebratory tone for the unveiling of the new logo. Maneesh Pradhan, Chairman of MASSA, expressed gratitude to all guests for their presence, after which the Board of Directors revealed the new logo to a resounding round of applause.
The new logo symbolizes a progressive future while honoring the organization’s rich heritage and commitment to supporting its members and the wider maritime community. Speaking about its significance, Pradhan stated, “MASSA has been committed to serving the maritime community since its establishment, and now is the time for us to adapt to change and expand our horizons.”
The MMA honors this occasion annually by presenting awards across various categories to distinguished maritime professionals. Award categories included Long Service Awards and Academic Excellence, recognizing the exemplary contributions and achievements within the maritime sector.
This milestone not only marks a significant moment for MMA & MASSA, but also reinforces their continued dedication to fostering talent and promoting excellence within the maritime fraternity.
The MASSA Maritime Academy, with centres in Navi Mumbai & Chennai, is a premier Maritime Academy and a trend-setter in maritime education and training in India and over the years has trained over 50,000 students. While two of their students from the academy have climbed the ladder becoming IAS officers, one of their alumni Capt Radhika Menon is the recipient of the IMO Bravery Award at Sea 2016.
The event organized to celebrate the 25 years of success and fortitude of MMA was widely appreciated and attending stalwarts of maritime industry included Mr. Rajiv Jalota Chairman MbPA; Capt SI Abul Kalam Azad, Nautical Advisor, Government of India, DGS; Capt (Dr) Daniel Joseph, Dy Director General of Shipping; Capt Soman Iyer, Director, Fleet Management Hongkong; Mr A K Gupta former CMD Shipping Corporation; and Mrs HK Joshi, former CMD Shipping Corp.
The MASSA Maritime Academy was inaugurated on 02nd June 2001 by Mr. D T Joseph, Director General of Shipping, Govt. of India. It offers a comprehensive range of DGS approved Competency and Modular courses, and company-validated value-added courses for seafarers.
