Chitkara University School of Maritime Studies organised a magnificent ceremony to celebrate the 61st National Maritime Day. The event, which was attended by a distinguished group of guests including Capt Kaustubh Pradhan, General Manager, Elite Mariners Pvt Ltd; Capt (Dr) Shashank Jahagirdar, MD & Country Head, MTM Ship Management India Pvt Ltd; Capt Randeep Bhalla, Deputy General Manager, Tomini Shipping; and Capt Manmohan Jit, Deputy General Manager, Elegant Marine Services Pvt Ltd unfolded with grandeur and enthusiasm.
The festivities commenced with a resplendent parade, with the cadets standing in perfect line and providing a spectacular guard of honour. Following the formal introduction, the distinguished guests were led on a thrilling campus tour that showcased the university’s cutting-edge facilities and infrastructure.
Amidst the palpable intensity, a series of spirited swimming contests emerged, instilling a sense of brotherhood and sportsmanship among the participants. Capt. Prabhat Nigam (Vice President-Maritime, Chitkara University) gave an enthusiastic speech on the event’s theme, ‘Sustainable Shipping: Challenges and Opportunities.’ His intelligent speech struck a deep chord with the audience, inspiring a communal call to action.
The guests of honour, drawing on their vast tapestry of shipboard experiences, provided essential insights and inspiration with the cadets, inspiring in them a fierce drive to strive for greatness in their maritime undertakings. Furthermore, the release of the fifth edition of the biannual newsletter demonstrated the institution’s achievements and milestones, adding to the sense of pride and accomplishment.
The celebration culminated in a dazzling cultural spectacle, with the brilliant cadets taking centre stage with fascinating performances in singing, plays, and dance. A solemn investiture ceremony followed, with deserving cadets receiving well-earned ranks that symbolised their steadfast commitment and dedication to their MTI.
As the festivities came to a close, the atmosphere hummed with contagious joy, culminating in an amazing Bhangra performance that captured the spirit of zest that permeated the whole event.
