Earlier this month, Wallem’s fleet Officers gathered in Chandigarh in India, renowned for its exquisite French architecture, to delve into the themes of Connect, Collaborate, Succeed. Managing Director of ShipManagement, Ioannis Stefanou, inaugurated the bustling two-day meeting with a keynote address to the nearly 100 Officers from India, Angola, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, 10% of whom were female Officers. Ioannis expressed gratitude for their dedication and highlighting the pivotal role they play in Wallem’s operations as well as the vision and ambitions of company.
Wallem’s Officers engaged in discussions, shared expertise, and explored various topics including navigation safety, SIRE 2.0, vehicle carriers, EU ETS, and mental and well-being. They actively participated in workshops aimed at problem-solving real-life scenarios and enhancing their understanding of transforming challenges into opportunities. A maritime Doctor also presented best practices on mental and physical well-being.
Over 50% of those Officers attending also received Long Service Awards in recognition of their loyalty and dedication to Wallem.
After two days of intense deliberation, the Officers and their families were treated to a splendid gala dinner at Holiday Inn Chandigarh Panchkula where they engaged with clients and shore colleagues from India, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Acting Global Head of Crewing, Yogesh Pasrija, expressed appreciation for the active and lively participation of the Officers, emphasising the significance of these meetings in staying updated on industry trends and business updates, as well as in fostering connections with colleagues at sea. Yogesh highlighted the importance Wallem places on its seafarers and their well-being, encapsulated in the theme of ‘Connect, Collaborate, Succeed.’
The Wallem Fleet Officers and Ratings Meeting is an annual gathering aimed at bringing together seafarers to address the opportunities and challenges they encounter, while celebrating their contributions to safety and excellence in the maritime industry. It serves as a platform to unite and look forward, echoing the ethos of ‘Connect, Collaborate, Succeed’.
